As the executive director for Hillside Learning Center (Hillside) in La Canada I would like to thank Mr. Chun for his dedication and professional approach in helping Hillside design, build, and complete a new $1.5 million dollar facility in a timely manor. Hillside Learning Center works with children with learning disabilities and had out grown its old facility. Through a friend who highly recommended Mr. Chun, we developed and designed a facility that was state of the art. We were not disappointed. Mr. Chun’s ability to handle the pre-building issues in house kept our expenses down and moved our project along. He helped design it, did the structural calculations, and then managed the building of it. From the groundbreaking to moving in took only six months, a feat many in the building industry could not believe. One very nice feature that aided the aesthetics of the building was Mr. Chun’s ability to take a picture, scan it into a computer and apply different colors and/or textures to it. For those of us who need a visual impression, we could then choose colors wisely. The most important feature was the professionalism of his office and the sub-contractors he used as well as the excellent and professional relationship he established with the City Building Department. Never was there ever any major change due to poor workmanship. In fact, most of the inspections passed with no changes needed at all. I would highly recommend Mr. Chun for any building project. I believe his price and dependability cannot be matched. In addition, he has a complete understanding of construction from design to structural, to completion that many architects and contractors do not have and have to consult outside of their offices. Samuelson Brothers entered into a contractual relationship with Brian Chun, to comply on our behalf with City Ordinance #169341 “The Earthquake Hazard Reduction in Existing Tilt-up Concrete Wall Buildings” ordinance. The work consisted of doing a survey of existing conditions in the structure, redesigning structural connections to meet current codes, obtaining permits, and furnishing labor and materials to complete the rehab work as required. Mr. Chun kept constant vigil on the project and reported to us regularly on the status of the work, to the end that it was completed on schedule, and equally important, on budget. We will not hesitate in recommending Mr. Chun and his company if the opportunity to do so arrives.

I am writing to you in appreciation of all the great work you have done in my house. As you know, I had to deal with two dishonest and greedy contractors before you came to fix up all their mess. They left my house in danger of being destroyed by the collapsing hillside, which should not have happened if they did the work right in the first place. You could say that my impression of contractors were not particularly good, to say the least. But you came in and corrected the situation, not compromising any part of the construction, even though the scope of the work was very difficult. I have an engineering background, so I can truly appreciate all the precautions and care that went into each aspect of the construction, including the work on demolition and construction of the massive footing, wall, and soil compaction. I also greatly appreciate your integrity and honesty. Whereas the previous contractors inevitably tried to increase their profit by various tricks, including blatantly not doing what they said they were going to do, you did more than all the work you set out to do. I particularly appreciate your willingness to work with me when problems arose. I can see that you really practice the values that you profess as a Christian. In my mind, if there are more people like you, there would not be such a bad reputation for contractors. I am just very happy with all the work that you have done. It was just a night and day difference between what you have done and what the others have done. Even though I had to go through all the hardship from the terrible earthquake damage, you made it easier to cope with; my wife and I thank you for what you have done. If you need any references in the future, please do not hesitate to call me. I will be more than happy to testify to your great and honest work. I will gladly recommend you to anyone, including my own family members and friends.

I am writing to you in appreciation of all the great work that you have done at The Palms Apartments. The contracts that we entered into with you for the Seismic Retrofitting of our tuck-under parking areas and the new leasing office construction and remodel were completed exceptionally well. In short, from large to small you have accomplished the tasks in a timely, efficient manner. Throughout the process you were very attentive to our needs and we greatly appreciate that.
